ACCREDITED INVESTOR

ARE YOU AN ACCREDITED INVESTOR?

Accreditation is a self assessment and you attest that you meet the following requirements. Brainteq will ask you to confirm that you meet the accreditation requirements before you can invest. You may need to provide supporting documentation such as a letter from your CPA or statements.

An accredited investor in Canada and U.S. is a person or entity that meets specific income or wealth criteria under securities laws.

Regulators assume that if you meet these financial thresholds, you have enough financial cushion or expertise to invest in higher risk, private investments without needing a full regulatory prospectus.

How to Qualify (Individual Criteria):
You need to meet at least one of the following requirements:
  • Income: Over $200,000 net income before taxes (or $300,000 combined with a spouse) in each of the last two years, with the expectation to make the same this year.
  • Financial Assets: At least $1,000,000 in net financial assets (cash, stocks, bonds) alone or with a spouse. Note: Primary residence and real estate DO NOT count.
  • Net Assets: At least $5,000,000 in total net assets alone or with a spouse. Note: Primary residence and real estate DO count here.
  • Professional Designation: Holding a CFA designation (Chartered Financial Analyst) or CPA (Certified Professional Accountant).
